I haven't been keeping up-but I have been keeping track!

186 miscellaneous photos were taken while I have been away. This total is made up of passport photos, artwork shots and just helping out with a customers camera, I also took one random photo of Ryan at work, or not working is more like it, but if there is one camera I can't Handel very well it is my camera phone and by the time I got the phone turned it on a shot the photo it looked like he was working....I said looked!!!!

AHS Class of 2010 comes to a close

We finished our first year as the official photographers for Avon High School. It was a lot of work, but in the end we did a good job. Our last task was the graduation ceremony it was very hot and sunny. Bill, Jenna and I all were armed with cameras. It was a nice ceremony, and the students were so happy to get their diplomas. I have gotten to know so many of the families so it was special to be a part of it all.

Mozeltov!

Busy month! I shot three Mitzvahs! Two Bats one Bar- I already talked about Samantha's so I wont mention that one again. Jake and Lauren were my other two.

Jake's was outside, at a day camp. There was so much for kids to do that it was hard to cover everything. I brought the underwater camera and thru it in the pool so the kids could play. They gave out towels. Nice touch. I had Work Ali come with me to help out. The only bad thing is that he is a Eagles fan...ewe!

Next up was Lauren, remember she brought her pet gecko to her photo shoot. Way cool. Her party was at La Trotoria in Canton. Second time in one month. There is a girl doing an Internship at Moto photo, her name is Isabelle she attends Miss Porters private school. She has to put in 80 hours. She's sweet! Anyways she came to the party for a couple of hours and I let her take some shots.

Hello Sailor!

It was a busy few days in the studio.

A sailor came into the studio for his parents. He is being diploid soon and he wanted to give them a nice portrait in his uniform. I took 51 shots of him.

Also shot a young girl for a life size cut out we made of her for her Bat Mitzvah (122). Finished up Simsbury Lacrosse team photos with 59.

In studio I shot a little girl named Caroline. She was soo cute. 180 shots.

In May I took 14 passports.

I'm Old!

Ok, I shot an engagement session for a good friends son. They were a lot of fun and went with everything I said. The only problem is when I was trying to re enact the ending of the movie Officer and a Gentleman. You know when Richard Gere carries Debra Winger off at the end, you know one of the most romantic scenes in cinema history!!!! They had no clue what I was talking about. Kids!

Any ways I wish them luck and here's to Matt safely returning home.

Bat Mitzvah!

I shot Samantha's Bat Mitzvah. She had her party at La Trotoria in Canton. While I was waiting for the kids to show up I took images of a menu they had in a frame. The prices are a little better then they are today! Italian Ravioli only .50, Hamburgs .15. PIE only 10 cents!!!. I love how they served appetizers and relishes!

We had to meet with the Junior Class at Avon High School. We showed them a slide show and Miller killed it with his wit! I was in the back with my casio.

Torrington Middle School Track

Every year I am lucky enough to shoot the TMS track team. I have been shooting this team since Ali was in sixth grade, and I am sad to say that was 13 years ago!!! Yikes!!

Also shot an engagement session for a very cute couple that are getting married in October. It should be a good wedding, they were very cute, but need to work on their dance skills a little!

Prom Season!

We shot at the Hartford Marriott for the Avon High School Prom. Soo many pretty dresses. It was fun. 230 images were taken, but Joel snapped a few to try and throw my count off! So 230 minus 2 is umm 228! Yeah me.
It was fun telling the youngins that I married my senior prom date! YIKES! (It's all good)

Ryan also helped then we met up with my daughter for a drink, fun for me. Not so much for Ali!

When it rains it poors!

This weekend we had to shot Simsbury Little league and The Greater Hartford Track invitational at Simsbury High School. I was on the track meet team with Jenna and work Ali. It was a long hot day!!! Sunday I covered at the store so for the first time in 5 years I did not shoot little league :(.
We shoot like crazy at the track meet. The total number was 6479!!! Ryan shot 131. Work Ali shot 1008, Jenna shot 1263 and I was working two cameras and shot 2898 ohhh yeah!

Last Saturday I was the only photographer on staff and had a full day. I shot a girl in her prom dress 191, a little girl 149. a family 242 (together and separate). A very cute but droolie baby 190.
It's hard to add lib to my blogs, because I am too far behind. As I catch up I will be able to write more.

Done with AHS Sports

I am finally finished shooting Avon High School Sports for the year of 2009-2010! I finished up with Baseball. The golf team never showed up for their team photo so while I was waiting I got board so I took pictures, it was a nice day and I was in no hurry to get back to work shhhhh! Don't worry about the golf team because Jenna shot action of them, in case you were worried.

Easter

I spent Easter at my aunt Liisa's in Great Barrington Mass. Had a good time with the fam. The food was great. Mom is home from Florida so it was nice to see her. Mostly I spent time shooting with my new lens. I love the depth of field. It was not not using a flash!

My Bad!

I have to play a little catchup! My Internet was down for a few days so I missed posting...so to play catch up I had 5 studio sessions to report and I took a total of 599 images. The photo I posted has nothing to do with the studio. I shot it when I was shooting The Torrington High School swim team. It was hanging in the pool and it meant something to me.

Walk In

I wasn't planning to shoot in studio today, but had a cute walk in named Stella. She was almost three and spoke 3 languages! She was visiting her grandma from Singapore. I took 101 shots of her, she was a mover!

Spring Sports

Yeah spring sports! No flash, good lighting, nice weather, did I mention how much I love my job! In the last week I shot Lacrosse, Track and Tennis for the Avon High School yearbook. I will have to admit I missed watching my daughter Ali compete in track, when she was in high school she was an awesome athlete, and she was awesome in track.

Florida!!!!

I had a great time in Stuart Florida visiting my mom's new house. She is officially a snow bird. I am already planning my next trip. Should I go once or twice....hmmm decisions decisions! We went to the beach, shopped, had great food at water edged restaurants and went to a Mets game fun fun fun. David Wright so cute! I relaxed and took pictures I wanted to take not just because it was my job.
Did I mention cocktail hour!

Before I tell you about Florida

The last of the Easter portraits were taken in the studio two kids that were a handful (the boy actually threw one of the chicks across the room, lucky for the chick I caught it! No Harm done) I took 96 photos. Diane and the gang came down for the chicks photos. Again Sydney was not cooperating. She was a little fussy. When you can't get the group in, its best to do individuals!
I'm glad the chicks are gone. I'm getting to old to chase them around. They are soo cute though.

Ok! I fell a bit behind so here are some more numbers... I took 10 shots of some old photos that I need to restore. I took 51 images of a woman for business cards.
I know I mentioned the Indian wedding on Saturday. The numbers are in...da da da daa!

warm up!

Stopped at work before my Indian Wedding on Saturday. I helped in the studio with the chicks and bunny photos. I took 71 shots of this little girl in her Easter outfit. Before I left for the wedding Ryan wanted some cool shadowy shots before he shaved off his beard. Tessa wanted a picture of her and a chick before they went to the farm.
The wedding was beautiful. I don't have the numbers yet, but I kept snapping away. I didn't want to miss anything, because I never shot an Indian wedding before and I didn't want anyone to know I never shot an Indian wedding before.
I'm falling behind here I still don't have a total number from Florida...yeah yeah I know..never mind I have to hear about it from my mother!

Ali oop

Ali oop came into the studio for a head shot. She is getting her first media credentials for the NFL draft and she wanted me to take her photo. She is so cute and becoming a successful young lady. But she still has those little girl hands! I don't tell her enough that I am so proud of her! I also took 2 photos of a baby in the studio because Jenna was on the phone!!!

New Arrival

I had a great time in Florida! It was nice to spend some one on one with my Mom. I have been busy with work and haven't had time to count up all my photos, so keep watching for the Florida count. All none of you!

Sydney Elizabeth and big brother Brody

Sydney had her first photo shoot at her house. I just want to thank Colleen and Jason for letting me abuse their new born. Of coarse she was fussy and wide awake the entire shoot. I was able to get a few shots. I was trying different things, like natural light, black and white, baby poses etc. She only peed once!! Also took pics of her big brother Brody who is the still the cutest little thing! Jumping around like a mad man. It was a fun learning experience.

Passport Photos

Jenna and Ryan 2 of my crazy co workers! I wouldn't care about my job as much as I do without them! They are a lot of fun, and both talented photographers.
I took 25 passport photos in January and February. I almost forgot to count them, but they are photos and I am using a camera so add them to the tally! Right?
I also took 446 photos at the Cobb School Opera. The kids were so cute in there costumes, many of them customers of ours and the refer to me as the crazy photo lady. Nice!
Had a sitting in studio of Olivia for her 9 year birthday photo. It is just fun hour when you have a single child and she is so happy to have her photo taken. How can you go wrong! (took 97)

Mother in laws birthday!

It was my mother in laws 75th Birthday. We all got together at the Painted Pony restaurant in Bethlehem CT. It was nice to see the whole family (everyone but Mat) :(
In the picture are the 5 grandchildren and the three great grandchildren. Between my camera and Ali's camera I took 33 shots. Amber took 11, but I'm not counting those. I think I need a new point and shoot camera. and a new lens, new backdrops, another speedlight.............................toys!

Welcome Sydney!

Lots to report today.
My computer went down last week so I was without for a couple of days, I was lost. It was like I didn't know what to do with myself. Luckily none of my files were lost and now I'm back in business.
First of all I revisited the THS boys swim team to retake the team photo. This time I left plenty of time for the camera to adjust to the warm pool area. (77). Also ran into an old friend Ethan while at the pool.
Sydney Elizabeth Beckett was born. She and mom are great! It was nice to visit my friends at the hospital for such a happy occasion unlike the end of last year when Joseph (Sydney's uncle) was in a bad car accident and we didn't know if he would make it or not.
Yesterday I shot a senior boy for SHS and I took 231 images which is a lot but I haven't shot a senior session in a while and he was a little difficult. His smile had 3 stages from fake, half smile then he hits it and then its gone.
My last entry is about my husband and his two brothers. They came in to the studio to take a photo for their mom's birthday. It had to be done, My mother in law has an photo of them over her fire place that was taken around 1979! (82).

Another snowy day!!! Florida here I come!

Took 10 photos on my way to work this morning. Some people text while driving, I take photos.
Also had a senior guy in for portraits. It was the third of three brothers, that I have shot. I took 312 shots, which is a lot, but I haven't taken senior photos in a while, and I was under a little pressure to take as good of ones that I had taken with the older boys. I will admit I am not as comfortable shooting guys as I am with girls. Girls are more into it. It is hard to shot guys and make them look natural. With guys you know right away when the pose works. Kevin was great. He had good props and I think he had a good time. Mom loved them and that's what really counts.

Today I had baby Grace in for Baby art. She is so cute. I love baby art. It is when the personality of the baby really shows. It's more like playing with the cute baby then working. And the best part is ....NO PEE!!!

My little girl is 24!

We took Ali and her roommates out to dinner last night to celebrate Ali's 24Th birthday! We went to the Cheesecake Factory in Blue Back Square, the meal was great. We all had a good time. Of coarse the daughter was a little hung over from the night before.....oh to be 24 again!

Snow Day

While my parents are in Florida I am helping out with the house and animals. The nice thing about a snow storm is the next day. It was beautiful this morning. I took 18 shots with my casio. The horse and donkey were not that into the photo shoot, they just wanted to eat!

Snowy Day

Needed to take pictures of the snow, because I needed to add it to a photo that needed snow and Getty images wasn't working.
Had two babies in the studio under 4 weeks old. They were so cute. Jenna shot while I positioned. Both peed so I'm doing laundry TONIGHT. "PEE HAPPENS!" I took seven shots while Jenna stepped out.

Had a busy day in the studio today. First up Stephanie, a 13 year old future actress. She has a lot of spunk and knows how to throw a pose. (198). AHS Basketball

Calender Shoot

Took 435 action pictures of the AHS swim team. It was fun, brought back memories of Ali swimming in High School. Nice pool at Miss Porters School.
Speaking of Ali two of her good friends, Cassie and Emily came in to make a Valentine Calender for their boyfriends. Jenna helped and with the booze flowing it was a great shoot. The girls were beautiful and had great ideas for all 12 months. It was a lot of fun and after 1334 shots and 4 hours we were done!

Studio

I had 2 appointments in studio today. First a family of 5 which I shot 175 images. My second shoot was a woman for business cards. Shooting woman is probably my least favorite subject to shoot. They are always so nervous and tense, usually follow me into the studio saying "I just want you to know, I hate every picture ever taken of me!" I'm thinking ohh great!! I usually follow with saying "At least I'm not the gyno!!"
I took 40 shots and she left happy. Men don't have that same low self esteem, they come out great because they don't really care, so they are relaxed and natural. Men!

Plants

Today was my day off. I spent most of the day working on the 5 Mitzvahs I shot last year and 1 this year. The other day I bought 2 little plants. They were little kits. With pot, soil and seeds. I'm trying to be more green. We'll see. I took 10 photos of the pots on the window sill after I made the soil, which looked a little like poo!
Later on tonight I was asked to take team shots of the THS Swim team. I showed up an hour early to get the camera used to the heat, but it was really cold out and the camera equipment was fogging up all over the place. I was embarrassed, and I need to go back. I took 48 photos but I am sure they did not come out. The camera would fire because it was so fogged. Lesson learned don't leave camera in car when it's cold. What a rookie mistake!!!

Year book Stuff

Had to shot yearbook stuff today. Went to AHS to shoot Girls basketball. Team and action. I took 220 photos, but trust me most of those will be deleted. I only need 25 so keep your fingers crossed!

Bridal Fair

Jenna and I worked the bridal fair at the Torrington Elks Club. Had a good time met a lot of nice people, not sure if we booked any weddings, but people liked our display. You never know with these things. I mean I talk and talk to people about my work, but I wonder what they are thinking when they walk away. Do these people realize how hard I work at my work!

Two Ali's

It took a while to figure out how many photos I took at the Bat Mitzvah, because I had a second shooter.
Their are 2 Ali's in my life. My daughter Ali, and Ali at work. Whom I call Work Ali!
Any ways she came with me for part of the reception.
At the service I took 231 photos. And at the party we took a total of 1,120 photos. (trust me they are not all winners!). Work Ali took 277 and I took 843.

Team Shots

It was a full day today. First I headed off to the AOF ice rink to take team shots of the Hockey team that I shot the action shots of last week. (44 shots) It was so nice out today I almost hated going back to work. But it was Jacobs first birthday and I brought him a little cake so he could get a little messy. He was so cute, but wasn't crazy about the cake. After the clean up I had taken 115 shots! Later in the day I had another cute little boy and took 58 shots.

I was a Girl Scout Too!

I glad it's a little slow these days, because when you take as many photos as I do, it is hard to keep up with them. As far as retouching, organizing etc...
Yesterday we had a girl scout troop come into the studio to work on their Photography Badge. Their were 12 of them and after I took 14 shots of them as a group, we split them up into groups of 2 and one was the model and one was the photographer then they switched. It was fun ad I think they had a good time. I only took 4 test shots. So out of the over 200 shoots taken by the girl scouts I only shot 19!

Cupcakes!

In studio we just practiced with Valentine props! (Thanks Al). Took 41 shots. Later in the day I took images of a house decorated with lights for next years Christmas card. We call Christmas the "C" word. I stood outside for about an hour. The house looked great, and I got lucky with the weather because there was no wind. It was still cold though. Wish there was more snow. I'm off tommorow so I can edit all my Bar Mitzvahs! yeah!

Things are a little slow in the studio these days, so I took photos of my best christmas gift. It is a bag made out of capri sun juice boxes. My aunt (and friend) made it for me, and words can not describe how much I love it! It took me 40 shots to get what I was looking for. First I set it all up, then I start moving around and trying different lighting, and adding movement etc....

Ice Hockey

This year started slow with only 11 shots of art work that I need to restore. Then I got to go shoot a high school ice hockey game!!! It was so great I never shot hockey before. I have a new respect for hockey players. My total shot count at the game was 448.
